Nick Montfort has written a new book exploring interactive fiction. The book goes in depth to the role of the user, or reader of interactive fiction and how in the unfolding of a sort of poetic journey the subject is invited into a mastery or understanding. Using Barthes, Baudrillard and a host of others the book examines how we use stories and why the way they are told is so important. Delivery mechanisms for stories have changed so dramatically over the last decade or so it took Montfort to examine this topic in detail to uncover the intricate nature of interactive fiction.
